A revitalized the Russian player secured his first championship for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The Russian, a former number one, has had a difficult season, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the American major.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in particular - resulted in him falling of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with former trainer his previous coach.

Now training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.

This marks his first title since the Rome competition and first on a hard surface after spring of 2023.

The win also means the Russian has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my children at once, so to get a title is especially meaningful," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child her name, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete aggressively, supported by an better serve.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players swapped breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his maiden ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to push for a third set.

Moutet saved 4 early chances in a competitive third set before the Russian secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a shot at the net, with Moutet incapable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
