'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith renews clash with City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he reminisces about the nail-biting final moments of his team's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The encounter ended with Galbraith briefly donning a fan's glasses following the post-goal scrum.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith struck the post with a powerful strike from outside the box, and his teammate immediately slammed home the deflection before charging toward the East Stand to revel in the moment, with supporters mobbing the players.

Stunning Reversal

The victory completed an extraordinary comeback given the Welsh side had been behind 2-0 midway through the latter period. During the euphoria, there was some minor mishaps. He shared, "There was a fan shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result earned a upcoming fixture at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith came close against at the same stage of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. Galbraith had arguably the best view when his former team took the lead in stunning style, with Jamie Donley's first-time shot from about way out going in via the woodwork and the opposition keeper. Many argued that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've awarded it to him for having a go from that range," says Galbraith, who played in the middle before moving to right defensive wing after Orient changed shape. That meant competing with Jack Grealish, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the player was among the Manchester squad who complimented the way the underdogs approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are outstanding but even the basics and routine actions, they can just execute repeatedly," Galbraith says. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they understand how to control and take the sting out of a game. You can believe you're all right and then abruptly they will just thread a ball between defenders without you even spotting it. You have to be focused throughout of the game. It takes a strong mentality and focus just to keep pace."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across a couple of years at his former club and has rapidly achieved similar status in Wales. At Orient he joined forces once more with the coach, who four years ago gave Galbraith his first extended run in senior football on loan at his loan club from Manchester United. Then came a loan at lower division Salford, before he permanently left his boyhood club.

Growth Journey

"I was probably a somewhat inexperienced going into senior level. I think a lot of players would say development squad matches is very different. Sometimes it seems possession is exchanged without much intensity. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing men's games you have to learn quickly."

National Team Success

He has shown that development for his team and nation, shining for Northern Ireland, who could still reach the World Cup next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has featured in the past five games, including home and away fixtures against a football powerhouse. His former international manager, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he manipulates the ball and his ability to spot a game-changing assist.

Starting Out

It has been a remarkable path for the player from the local area in the Belfast suburb, just outside Belfast, who was raised observing his dad, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for a local club.

Manchester United Experience

The player's single match for United came in Central Asia in 2019, a European competition trip to the Kazakh capital, where they featured on an synthetic surface and the arena covering was sealed owing to the weather of bitter cold. "It was a lengthy journey and it was cold out there," he says, chuckling. "The preceding week, the academy prospects worked out jointly, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to join the main group and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Moving On

How difficult was it to leave United, the club he joined from Linfield aged 16? "It was quite easy, because I arrived at the moment where I knew I wouldn't break through at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it got to the point where I thought I had to take a different path, drop down the leagues and play first-team games. Now I'm steadily progressing again."

Welsh Adaptation

It is the early part of the afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has somewhere to be at late afternoon: a driving theory test, another progress toward getting on the road. Prior to relocating to Sketty, the 24-year-old was a regular in Swansea's dubbed fun bus, a team vehicle driven by academy staff, the drivers, which ferries players to and from practice and games.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, Ronald, Malick Yalcouyé – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has started driving. It's pleasant to spend time with the teammates but I'm planning to be the following person out of the minibus and behind the wheel. His teammate is known for his humor; he's always up to all sorts."

Fan Interactions

When he represented his former club, Galbraith would mix with supporters on the Tube after beginning his trip at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
